Maybe we should think of KImmel as a Court Jester with a deep historical lineage:
A jester, also known as joker, court jester, or fool, was a member of the household of a nobleman or a monarch kept to entertain guests at the royal court. Jesters were also travelling performers who entertained common folk at fairs and town markets, and the discipline continues into the modern day, where jesters perform at historical-themed events. Jester-like figures were common throughout the world, including Ancient Rome, China, Persia, and the Aztec Empire.
I am so inspired by your post today! Things are, indeed, taking a frightening turn. People like Kimmel are some of our modern day prophets. I’m preparing a worship service based on Jesus’ parable of the rich man and Lazarus. The rich man, suffering in torment, asks that his 5 brothers be warned of the results of ignoring the suffering of others. Abraham says that they already have what they need to figure it out - they have Moses and the prophets. We have what we need to see what is happening. We must not ignore our prophets. However — That’s all well and good for me to say - I live in Canada. At the moment, I am still the rich man, ignoring the prophets. But I hear the warning.
And yet, nobody does anything. It’s treated almost like mass murders, with thoughts and prayers. It didn’t/doesn’t work for them and isn’t/won’t work now because Trump is winning and still, nobody appears to be doing anything substantive to stop him and his gang!!!!!!
