If you have not already discovered the CBC, I suggest you look for it and listen to some podcasts: https://www.cbc.ca/radio/shows I know Americans are reluctant to listen/read/watch news programs because they don't trust them. The Canadian Broadcasting Company provides balanced reporting, always representing the viewpoints of all of our major political parties, as well as French Canadian and BIPOC perspectives. Almost any news program will be informative and will help you see the world from outside of today's America. Buying Canadian will be more complicated, especially in this world of tariffs and counter-tariffs, but we appreciate the thought!

Thank you, I needed this, Cameron. I was born in the U.S. but chose to become a Canadian citizen and have lived most of my 89 years in Canada. All of my extended family are American and most are Republican. The rift between Canada and the U.S. is deeply personal. While I understand trade issues between countries, when the rhetoric begins to turn to language associated with warlike behaviour, I feel both threatened and helpless. I become dependent upon voices like yours to remind me that Trump and his bully friends do not represent the whole of America. While I doubt I will live to see that day, you calm my fears and give me some hope in a future where our two countries may once again become close friends and allies. With gratitude.
I have been experiencing Romans 8:26 far too much lately. Yes, I too am angry. I am especially angry that the violation of Jesus words to the disciples in Matthew 22:37-40 is so blatant. It strikes me that this says much about the political leadership in the White House right now. Part of my sorrow is the need to do things need doing. The President does not understand that there are those who will not blink first. That we will not move from cherished values we hold dearly. We have now joined the club of China and Iran in this administration's mindset.
We are still here. I hold many of you, especially Cameron, in my prayers daily. We just need to sit down and go for a coffee (and something to go with it). It did not have to come to this.
After decades of listening to rhetoric about American excellence, I am gutted by the collapse of decency. As a Canadian I just want to go home. My family is here (Michigan),so🤷🏼🤷🏼🤷🏼🤷🏼
Bullies are ALWAYS deeply insecure and fearful, and lash out in fury when feel threatened. The current occupant of the White House and his ilk are textbook bullies, and apparently their flailing, their expressed toxicity resonates with many Americans. However, this sad reality is NOT what most Americans feel, and I hope and pray that this coming general election will save us from further degradation into impotent, pathetic “governance”. May it be so.
