Thanks for an amazing insightful article - followed by an amazing amount of sharing some great work going on. I feel detached like I haven’t found my people, and here you are sharing what like minded folk are doing, and leading me to them. I can tell you that I am grateful Substack led me to you, that “feed” is a positive one in my life. Stay off Facebook and on Substack might be my message for today 🙏. Keep up the great work.
"Your feed is studying you all day long. For today, study it back."
Thank you. Thank you. I appreciate your balance here.
We have agency IF we pay attention and learn the new literacy this technology demands. It is easy to get dopamined into distraction. As agents, we need to be the ones curating our time and attention.
You are right. We have a tool that opens us, literally to the world. It is "mind bendingly" wonderful and "mind bendingly" disorienting--all at once. Inner attention to feelings grounds us.
In the sea of mefical, social and political tsunamis you are the anchor. I am grateful for your knowledge and faith, and that you are so able to share this wealth.
Thank you for your insiteful article. I too catch myself asking if the social media is helping or hurtful. I appreciate how I have found new ideas, people etc in the midst of all the craziness. I look forward to your articles. Thank you!
I appreciate this perspective and I have been working on the same idea over the last year or so. I found Dacher Keltner’s book on “Awe: The New Science of Everyday Wonder and How It Can Transform Your Life “ very helpful. I now choose to pick things that inspire joy and wonder whenever possible.
Well I really feel I don't need more control. I need less. I can't tolerate certain political views because I've grown eerily unaccustomed to them. That's not ok. The world is not made up of people who agree with us + monsters/the rest. That's one horrible thing the feed is doing to me, personally.
Thanks for a primer on Loyola. Loyola’s practice is aligned with Theravada Buddhist practice. Discern what’s skillful and unskillful; where do the thoughts/ impulses take you? Toward wholesome or unwholesome states and behaviors?
This is very helpful, especially right now, with so many unsettling posts. I have considered leaving social media so many times, but as a social media manager for a church, I’m stuck here. Thank you for new tools to examine what this is doing to me/us.

Cameron, I stopped here: “the past, the present and the future, compressing in a dark tastable richness in my mouth.”
Oh, my. "Tastable."
I have a visceral experience of that.
One of those moments when the veil between the ordinary and the sacred seems suddenly very thin.

This is helpful! It’s grounded and insightful. We really do need to do our own deep inner work when it comes to how we use technology, especially AI.
Excellent! Thank you.
"Gather us back." Wow. <3
Thank you for this wisdom, Cameron.
