Thank you for teaching us through chickens, teaching us through war. Violence, numbing. denial, destruction of any life diminishes us all. Thank you for teaching us to stand in our deeper knowing, of truth, of connection with the earth and each other, and remembering this dark time is a tremendous opportunity to lean into knowing we can’t help others or heal by our own strength alone. 💗Darla

We continue myth, the anesthesia, when we call our military -- "service members". Such a nice polite term for our killing force. Thank you again Cameron for another powerful meditation.

War doesn’t bring peace.

Redemptive violence myth

hides truths of woes, grief.

...

War “multiplies... wounds

the world already carries.”

Peace grows through love work.

It’s so interesting that you write this. We have a Lenten book study at our church ( UCC) and are reading “The Powers That Be” by Walter Wink and discussed the myth of redemptive violence on Tuesday. What a reinforcement of the concept. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it. And thank you for still giving hope. And we shared this reflection with the group.

What a beautifully written piece, and so on target. This has inspired me!

The First World War was believed to be the 'war to end all wars'. Instead it gave rise to conditions that led to the Second World War. 'Twas ever thus, as you say. Thank you for this tragically timely column.

Cameron, this reflections-WALKS! The MYTH is starting its recycle for 2026. I was involved in this myth back in the 60's(Good morning Vietnam), Remember the poster-"suppose they gave a war- and nobody came." As Ellie Hutchison says, Let's start a love revolution.

Peace my friend

When will we learn that violence and killing produces more of the same?

The anguish I feel for the grief of every child…… every mother…… grandparent….. sister .. brother.. my grief joined with their tears…. Lives forever changed…. Incomprehensible sorrow ….. overflowing.

How can I sit in quiet contemplation while screams, chaos and unimaginable violence tear through lives of my brothers and sisters? How? How?

I hold on to “we are in this together”, but my grip is slipping.

How do we human believers in peace and love join hands before this mayhem? What are we willing to sacrifice….. ? How?
