Thank you for this. The weekly Interfaith prayer vigils at Alligator Alcatraz in the Florida Everglades continue - every Sunday from 4-5 pm. Conditions inside are inhumane. Not enough water or food. Beatings happen. Lights on 24/7. No windows in tents. Water has to be trucked in and sewage trucked out. The environmental damage is immense.
I appreciate your keeping a spotlight on these camps
Frederick Douglas went on to say: “Find just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them……the limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.”
(He also had some very naked truths to share comparing the Christianity of this land and the Christianity of Christ!)
Sister Cameron, thank you for picking up the mantle of truth. Time for good mischief.
In interviews with people who were taken and then released, (primarily US citizens, since they are less afraid to speak out) the BBC and other media have reported the language being used inside the Whipple building in Minneapolis (and presumably the concentration camps as well) also erases humanity. Guards there refer to human beings, ripped away from their lives and families, as "bodies." The guards say things like, "We have another eight bodies. Where should we put them?" or "We are bringing in another body for processing." This dehumanization of living beings--as if they have already died--is one of the most chilling things I have heard.
Here in Germany we live close to concentration camps preserved for posterity, with excellent historical documentation. Please do not let them also be 'disappeared' with no accountability. And keep them open to the public for all the world to see. Sobering visits. To join the call from Germany 'Nie wieder' - 'Never again'!
Yes, I agree detention centers are concentrations . Thanks for the courage for calling it for what it is. Only the truth will assist in writing the next chapter.
Read everything Walter Bruggemann ever wrote and discern, listen, sit in silence, and wait to hear the answer to the prophetic question: What next, God?

Me, too. It's not too soon to be naming it.

Oh my, dear Cameron. My heart breaks as I confront the truth in your words. Concentration camps in my country.

Concentration camps
here, now? Meet definition.
Call it what it is.
...
Disturbing, real... for
profit. Not normal/legal.
What are we doing?

“…Teach us how to stand in this moment with clarity,
with compassion,
and with resolve…”
Amen. 🙏🙏🙏
