I forget my source right now but your Reweaving the Web reminds me the story that Miriam/Mary, mother of Jesus, weaved for him a seamless garment. The seamless garment of our world/universe is a reminder that we all are citizens of a seamless universe, that we are all ONE...
1x1x1x1x1x1x1x1x1x1x1x1 will forever equal ONE. We have to act as if this 'matters'....
Beautifully expressed, Cameron. Thank you for sharing these profoundly healing perspectives and practices. And for inspiring me to express these Truths even more courageously in my writing... and to embody them even more courageously in my life.
Take heart from our South African experience, initiated by Desmond Tutu. The truth and reconciliation commission was not perfect but did help in bringing healing to many.
Some churches here falsely justified apartheid scripturally.
I am one with you. Thank you for the beauty of your writing, as well. You tiouch my mind, my heart, and my Spirit with your wisdom and your unabashed clarity.
Sigh. Yes, that sigh is of the kind and depth rooted in Romans 8:26. (I prefer the translation, '...with sighs too deep for words.') And it reminds me that one of the threads that has been lost is wisdom. The 'sayings' of our lives have disappeared in the hard realities of facts and scientific analysis. We are so much more impoverished of soul for it.
By way of example, you folks will soon join us here in Canada. The saying, 'A penny saved is a penny earned.' will no longer literally be true. In 2013, ours was removed from circulation. Our souls are poorer for it. And even we Christians are not immune from this trend. Little is heard from the five books of wisdom in the bible in public worship. And I know parishioners who would only open the book of Job for bedtime reading to fall asleep by.
We are isolated into groupings now that only echo our own biases. When, for example, have we reviewed the boldness of Abraham in Genesis 18. He is defending and asking for mercy for any good souls in Sodom. It is time we reviewed again the seven pillars of wisdom in James 3 and let them guide many of our actions. Rev. Scott Brown, Alberta, Canada
Thanks, Cameron. The same kind of thing happened to 1st Presbyterian, Douglas, AZ, while we were living at the border in 2023. On May 22 an arsonist burned the Episcopal Church building there and the Presbyterian Church building because the priest was gay and the Presbyterian pastor was a woman. He had the same control-based, exclusionist theology at work in his spirit. It is a great sorrow that so many people cling to a tribal image of God and refuse to accept that we all belong.

Thank you, Cameron. I believe you are spot on!

Thank you so much I am always consoled by your words. This was a thorough, insightful analysis that encouraged my understanding.
Thank you for the under-standing and for the midwifery reflections and practices!
