Thank you Cameron. This makes all the right points. The Supreme Court is not a just body! I am very sad as it sinks in that our country is no longer who it was (or in many cases pretended to be). We no longer welcome the "tired and poor" and we are no longer the liberators of Europe - American soldiers passing out Hershey bars. We've sold our soul for greed and hubris and it's sickening. THEN I take five minutes and look at the Obamas and their beautiful welcoming Presidential Center and see how they embody love for neighbor (this place does not hallow the past but instead plans for the future) and I am assured that there are indeed some good people left on this earth. We cannot give up.

One was during the service (Consecration of the human being) at my church. I had a strong spiritual picture of a member of my church, now for years not able to show up in person. She was my eurythmy teacher and school leader, so there was a strong bond between us. I realised that today might be her birthday, so when I came home, I texted her with a Happy Birthday, and we had some exchange …
The other was one of those encounters that are unexpectedly given. Walking along a path from the station back home, I saw an older woman from my neighborhood, standing in the shade, drinking from a water bottle in the heat of afternoon. I greeted her. She told me that she had been out walking for the first time since she was diagnosed with hypertension. She was happy to have company for the last part of her walk home.
I have never in my life wished to have influence on legislation or politics. What I can be to others in community, and they to me, makes sense. 🪷
I found it fascinating That the NPR coverage interviewed religious organizations doing refugee settlement. The first was mainline and spoke of the centrality of hospitality to our religious practice. The other was Evangelic who cited religious persecution creating refugees. Perhaps there is hope of finding common ground.
It is taking constant vigilance to keep from normalizing what is so far from normal...or moral.
