Thank you, Rev. Cameron...

I like what you say about silence. So, so necessary. I don't always like using the word "mandatory," but wouldn't be interesting to see what would happen if our schools made one hour of silence a day mandatory. The students could read, write, draw, walk, dream, or just look out the window -- but all in silence -- no plugging in -- just 60 minutes of quiet.

Maybe start with 20 or 30 minutes? 😉 But, great idea! I really like it.

Thank you for summarizing the essence of this encyclical. I have done a lot of reading about AI, used it sparingly and served on panels or webinar discussions for its use in educational settings but the idea of technology as a reflection of our moral selves is a concept I have been trying to pin down. Having taught in K-12 and higher education most of my life I have seen a real shift in learning, even before the invention of AI, towards productivity for the purpose of profit. The heart of democracy, as well as Christian faith, should be the discerning of truth and the serving of others for the benefits gleaned from this truth. A “liberal” education can help in the development of wisdom necessary in handling information for a positive societal outcome. It gives context to what is otherwise a jumble of thoughts and facts. I pray and hope that we will come to our senses and realize that important part … we are here for each other not ourselves.

Our ability to accumulate is more and more outpacing our ability to assimilate, to meaningfully actualize all that we have opportunity to bring (in) to us for purpose of complete human and cosmic flourishing. I am grateful for Pope Leo’s insight, wisdom, and teaching; and for your inspiration, Cameron, in such accessible thoughtfulness. May we all take a deep, long, slow, quiet breath as we ponder our place in this wild pace. Peace in it all…

Thank you Rev. Cameron. As always I cherish your wisdom and insights. Now if Pope Leo could realize the need to empower half of the Magnifica Humanitas by allowing women to be ordained, and the BVM to be given the title Co-Redemptrix/Mediatrix, we might actually get somewhere!

Dear Rev Trimble, I read your daily reflections each morning and am constantly inspired by the way you are able to grasp the core of an idea and express it eloquently. When something in the news is bothering me, I turn to your comments to put it into perspective and feel more grounded. Thank you, thank you for all of your amazing observations and moral guidance.

Aa humans we enjoy the simple pleasure of receiving a letter. Well the world as just received a letter - the encyclical 'Magnifica Humanitas' from Pope Leo the 14th underscoring the Mystery and Responsibility that we are to and with one another and the whole cosmos. It is a letter of needed HOPE. May we take the needed silence to rebirth the WONDERS that we are.

"Moral maturity" sums up the current deficit, along with spiritual bankruptcy. Mark 8:36

"For what shall it profit one, if they shall gain the whole world, (fame, fortune, knowledge, power) and lose their own soul?" May we become wise and mature in all things. Thank you.

"But you are more than something to be optimized. You are a living soul, shaped by your memories, relationships, struggles, hopes, wonder, and love."

Needed to read this today. Noticing the divinity in it. Thank you.
