Your Canadian sister sends Birthday Blessings of HOPE. Hope that resides deep in the soul and soli of "WE THE PEOPLE" that can be celebrated. We all... and you, as a Nation of " WE THE PEOPLE" will have to dig deep into the pain and disappointment of the present administration to retrieve who you are a Nation of "WE THE PEOPLE."....HAPPY BIRTHDAY

I live in the town (Grafton, MA) where Frederick Douglass gave that speech. Every July 5th, it is reread on our Town Common. We all need the call to action and the hope his words carry, particularly in these times.

Thank you

Thank you, Rev. Cameron. My God, how great was Frederick Douglas! There are many who would like to revise history, pretend it didn't happen, fearful that the truth of our past will somehow weaken our love for our country. I see our country as a novel -- rich in character development. Well-written characters evolve, they acknowledge their sins and strive for some sort of redemption. Readers love these characters. America is that character, never perfect, but striving to do be better, and we the people love it for that very reason, we hope and hope and hope.

A beautiful call for all of us attempting to be what we are not yet. But becoming. 🙏❤️🙏

Thank you for your prayers. When I listen to my children say that they do not feel like celebrating the 4th of July this year, it makes me realize how hard we need to try.

From Elison’ Invisible Man

Epilogue excerpt

“….that we were to affirm the principle on which the country was built and not the men, or at least not the men who did the violence. Did he mean say “yes” because he knew that the principle was greater than the men, greater than the numbers and the vicious power and all the methods used to corrupt its name? Did he mean to affirm the principle, which they themselves had dreamed into being out of the chaos and darkness of the feudal past, and which they had violated and compromised to the point of absurdity even in their own corrupt minds?

Unfortunately, other than America has survived 250 years, there’s not much to celebrate, I feel.

Trump has been allowed to destroy your country.

You really don’t have any freedoms now. America today is not much better than Russia, North Korea or Israel. Each country is run by a self absorbed, evil man.

Hopefully, next year you will be able to celebrate freedom but, not this year…we the people does not exist in America at the moment…

Russia, North Korea?... Compared to US? The leader does not make a country. We the People... Our Constitution, our States, Our Churches, Our Communities... We are the United States. We are Much More than Any One Leader. Trump is not forever. Create Action, Live into Commitment.

We the People appear to be doing anything to stop Trump. Waiting for Nov 3rd is not action.
