Rainer Maria Rilke's advise was my future hope for years. It gestated for years, and today the mystery hidden within the question I now live. Thank You. Your tomatoes look delicious.
The farmer who pulled his seedlings up is every one of us who has ever mistaken anxious activity for faithful tending. Most of what matters is happening underground, on a schedule we didn't set and can't rush. The green tomato doesn't need our worry. It needs our trust.
Yet another perfectly timed message dear friend. This week I was visited by an old friend 'anger'. Why?!!! Why, after all these years, after all this trying and working and digging and learning. Ahh I see it is still my teacher. Healing the pain in me that produces anger when it doesn't want to feel the hurt, that takes time. More time than I want it to. My impatience, especially with my own spiritual growth, teaches me still. And boy oh boy do I pray for the wisdom to simply allow the ripening.
Thank you, Rev. Cameron, for another dose of much needed and timely wisdom. Yes, waiting is hard! We want to click things into being! I was a teacher for 44 years, and it took me many years to realize that a student's education, the way he or she learns, is truly a mysterious thing. And that some students do not "ripen" until well after high school!
Just received Sharon Blackie’s new book, Ripening: Why Women Need Fairy Tales Now. Can’t wait to read it!!
Dag Hammerskjold said,"patience is not passive; it is concentrated strength".
Imperceptibly,
ripening is happening.
Trust life's wise wild ways?

Wait for the ripe fruit, but do not forget to water the plant. 🍀
I love Rilke and am so comforted by this reminder! We are in this together! Be patient and ever faithful!🙏🏻
