Thank you, Cameron, for these profound and challenging words:

“True religion is not measured by piety—it is measured by justice, mercy, and how we treat the most vulnerable among us. To believe in God, in this moment, is to believe that what we do for the least among us matters infinitely.” Amen!

We are the wealthiest nation on the planet. May we be found faithful to The Word. Thank you for always sharing what we can do whether a small or large act, we can do something!

Bless you, Cameron.

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your continued encouragement and support in these times. Each time I read one of your articles I am encouraged to stay the course of compassion, love, and justice. The road ahead will not be easy, but as you said, "To believe in God, in this moment, is to believe that what we do for the least among us matters infinitely." Thank you for your words of wisdom.

This is misinformation, Cameron. The Republicans have passed the budget in the House and now they need more than just Republicans to pass the budget in the Senate. So the Republicans have proposed a clean CR, continuing resolution that holds all spending at Biden administration levels to allow for debate on the contentious ACA issues before January. The Democrats do not agree to that CR preferring to have the Republicans remove any language from the budget that will take away tax credits that hold ACA premiums at a lower level. It is not true that the Republicans can reopen the government without Democrat agreement.

Thanks for your thoughtful comment, Kimberly. You’re right that Senate votes require bipartisan support. At the same time, the House has significant power to shape the path forward—and some proposed CRs included policy changes that impacted ACA subsidies, making them less than truly “clean.” My deeper concern is that these political standoffs have real human consequences, especially for those already struggling. I imagine you share that concern. Grateful for your engagement!
