A group of interfaith clergy and others from all over SE & SW FL, have been standing in vigil and prayer at Alligator Alcatraz every Sunday afternoon (4-5 pm) since early August. The existence of this place and others like it, the cruelty with which the detainees are treated is a huge crack in the rule of law and due process we expect from our justice dept.
a group like ours gathers at Broadview in Chicago on Friday afternoons. Other vigils are happening at or near other facilities. It’s a small thing but it lets “them” know we see what’s happening.
We have profound work ahead of us to reweave the relational fabric of our world. Like breadcrumbs along a nearly forgotten road, we will find our way back to each other as we risk vulnerability - as neighbors share hopes, children share dreams, leaders share visions, artists share inspiration - and all of us remember that we belong to one another in Beloved Community.

I had posted this on FB 5 years ago. It saddens me that we have not made any changes to live by this but instead we are even further from the building of community.
When systems falter and power shields itself while ordinary lives bear the cost, how do you choose to stand, and what does solidarity look like in a concrete way?
Thank you. Your meditation made me think of the story of Solomon ordering baby to be cut in half, but the true parent gave in and lost so the baby could live…
One side holds hostages with no care for life, the other leads with conscience and care. Jesus taught us what it means to truly win.
The interesting thing about reckoning is that it never goes away. Reckoning is an accountability in the face of Divine Justice which is not malleable in the hands of humanity.

8 Senators just put another nail in democracy’s coffin. If renewal ever happens, it will take generations to right this blight.
Not 8, 9. Without the 9th, the 8 couldn't have.
Referencing the 8Dems
9th = Schumer or 8 including Schumer plus 1 Independent.

It still feels horrible.

It crossed my heart on June 21, 2021; while I was minding my own business “The mortal head wound of the beast was losing the 2020 election”.
U.S., “not okay.”
Suffering relieved by our
solidarity.
