I was shaken also. I had hoped that there was just one more just and honest Senator...THAT THERE WASN'T IS INDEED SCARY. Now, it is up to the American people to ACT honestly and justly.
Good morning, Rev. Cameron. "God cannot be used to support ruler who create injustice through law." I do believe there's a very famous essay by a very famous transcendentalist who voiced a similar warning! There's a great quote from the 1970s remake of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" that goes something like this: "Whoever thought they'd come only in metal ships." In that movie they came in flowers. Yes, we must be vigilant!
My greatest temptation is to completely disengage-- to get away from the constant social & legacy media "drip-drip" of one corrupt thing after another, because -- if you are paying attention-- it is exhausting and can create a drought of hope. It takes lots of energy to attend without disappearing, to be shaken to our roots at times.
I voted early today- in a public Library! My one act today to keep from sinking into the muck. It felt democratically--even spiritually-- agential, lifted the exhaustion and gave me a scent ( and sense)of hope. Don't give up ahead of time on November 3!
Authoritarianism does not always burn the courthouse. Sometimes it keeps the marble, flags, and job titles, then quietly changes the attorney general’s client from the American people to Donald Trump.
Christian nationalism blesses the transfer. The cross, once used by empire to execute a dissident, is now being waved by Christians to protect the emperor. History has a brutal sense of humor.
I’m not so sure Cameron because the people have continued to sit on the sideline and watch. There isn’t even talk of No King’s Day(s) anymore. Everyone is sitting on the sidelines waiting for November 3rd. This isn’t like waiting for Santa because there will be no gifts under the Christmas tree. What will be is probably total anarchy because Trump will not let go and his Reich, at least some will try to hold on.
