Piloting Faith: We have so much to learn...

A Word for the Day...
My friend and colleague, Brian McLaren, wrote a wonderful book for those on a spiritual quest and searching for deeper answers beyond pat institutional niceties. He called it "Finding Faith: A Search for What Makes Sense." In it he writes:
"That is what mature faith requires - not pride over how much one sees and understands, but humility, the feeling that one is still a child, certain of so little, still so dependent on God and others, with so much still to learn - including so much more to learn about humility."
In a world overrun with narcissism, I find these to be particularly wise words. I hope you live with a child-like curiosity today. We still have so much to learn.

Prayer for the Week
Your realm seems far away these days. We see hate and division in the news, and everywhere, people are arguing, always arguing. Yet Jesus said that your realm - the only true and enduring reality - is also among us.
May your loving spirit becomes ours, in the middle of our despair.
Even in my own heart, I hold grudges, nurse anxieties, withhold compassion, and put myself first. Too often, my heart is not a hospitable place for Love.
May your loving spirit become ours, starting first in my heart.
Empower your people to see where your way of life is already showing up. Help us to become passionate agents in this continuing unfolding of your will for all things.
Amen.
