Piloting Faith: The mything links...

A Word for the Day...
Philosopher and author, Jean Houston, once said, “You must realize that we are 'mything links,' links between the great mythic stories, the great stories of all times and places, and the playing out of those stories in everyday life.”
I love this description of the human journey. We are the tellers of stories both with our words and our lives. Consider your life. Can you remember a time when it felt like you…
Walked with Percival in search of the Holy Grail,
Wondered down the yellow brick road with Dorothy,
Felt the power of fire run through your veins with Prometheus,
Held the weight of the world on your shoulders with Atlas,
Woke up to your own life with Snow White after battling your inner evil step-mother,
Experienced painful death and resurrection to a new life with Jesus.
Stories are the most powerful force in the world. Stories are the juice through which consciousness and culture move. As you begin this week, think about the stories that shape you, the ones you are living out now. Are they worthy of your grand quest? Are they the mything links to a brave and loving life?
The best part about your story is that you are the author. You can always rewrite it if needed.

Prayer for the Week
Your realm seems far away these days. We see hate and division in the news, and everywhere, people are arguing, always arguing. Yet Jesus said that your realm - the only true and enduring reality - is also among us.
May your loving spirit becomes ours, in the middle of our despair.
Even in my own heart, I hold grudges, nurse anxieties, withhold compassion, and put myself first. Too often, my heart is not a hospitable place for Love.
May your loving spirit become ours, starting first in my heart.
Empower your people to see where your way of life is already showing up. Help us to become passionate agents in this continuing unfolding of your will for all things.
Amen.
