Piloting Faith: Finally the gays can celebrate!

A Word for the Day...

This Sunday was a progressive Christian's dream. We celebrated both Pentecost and PRIDE Sunday in many cities across the world. Finally, the gays can celebrate that the Church is literally flaming!
Pentecost and PRIDE are both about celebrating identity. In Pentecost, we tell the story of the Spirit descending to remind us that we belong to God, that God is with us, blowing like wind and burning like fire, claiming us as Sacred and powerfully loved. On PRIDE weekend, we loudly proclaim our understanding that God wasn't just talking about straight people when God made that declaration.
I love that these two celebrations were joined together today. It's a good reminder that no matter who you are, who you love, where you are from, what language you speak, what family you were born into, what education level you hold, what mistakes you have made...you are a beloved child of God, and you belong in the family.
We are all in this together. Thanks be to God.

May the Fire of God consume you. May the Burning of wisdom renew you. May the Flame of Love transform you and bring new vision to your soul.
