Piloting Faith: What geese know and can teach us...

A Word for the Day...
Naturalist Milton Olson was among the first to study why geese fly in formation. As each goose flaps its wings it creates an "updraft" for the birds that fly behind it. By flying in a V formation, the whole flock adds 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew alone. When the lead goose gets tired it rotates back into the formation and lets another goose take the lead.
When we move in the same direction with a shared vision we lift one another up. When we collaborate and help one another, we fly farther together. Sometimes we get tired or discouraged. Then we can ask for help and let others take the lead. The beauty of life flown this way is that we are never abandoned. We are a team.

Prayer for the Week
A contemporary translation of The Lord's Prayer:
Creator in heaven,
Reveal who you are.
Set the world right;
Do what's best— as above, so below.
Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.
Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.
You're in charge!
You can do anything you want!
You're ablaze in beauty!
Yes. Yes. Yes.
