Piloting Faith: The price of division...

A Word for the Day...
When thinking about the "border wall," the government shutdown and the terrible violence we are inflicting on our culture by advocating for a politic (and ultimately a theology) of "us" vs. "them," I am reminded of what Brian McLaren said in his book, The Great Spiritual Migration:
"When we better come together as Christians, we can better join with parallel movements of other faith traditions, because ultimately the problems we face are not just Christian problems, they are human problems."
We are all, in the end, children of God. There is no "us" and "them." We are all in this together. Thanks be to God.

Prayer for the Week
Lord,
Give us our daily bread.
May this simple prayer flourish in my heart and mind today. Let it teach me how wholly dependent I am on you for the basics, and how I can trust you for my needs.
Jesus, you asked us to ask.
For the millions who have too little to eat today, have mercy. May all those in positions of power and abundance have mercy, too - mercy that provides for those in need. Show me my necessary part in your provision so those who need food, water, and welcome can find it in our culture, that they might live with safety, health, and dignity.
Amen.
