Piloting Faith: Wisdom from Dr. Jacqui Lewis on the TODAY show

A Word for the Day...
This past week, our very own Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis, Senior Pastor of Middle Collegiate Church in NY and Rabbi Angela Buchdahl, senior rabbi of Central Synagogue, joined the team at the TODAY show to talk about how to process this terrible violence we see in our nation.
Rabbi Angela Buchdahl reminds us that in every faith tradition we can find some version of the Golden Rule. In hers, it says, "What is hateful to you, don't do to others." In ours, we say "In everything do to others as you would have them do to you." Love God; love your neighbor. Everything else is commentary.

I pray you find ways to give and receive love today. When the relational fabric of our community is torn apart, we mend it ALL back together with love.

Prayer for the Week
God of all that is good,
When we look around this world, we see great beauty–echoes of
heaven, evidence of every good and perfect gift.
But we also see terrible pain–tragic shootings, broken relationships, abused power,
malnourished children. And so we pray…
May your will be done today, on earth as it is in heaven, and let it
begin with me.
Loving Creator, grant us strength to be instruments of your goodness.
Show us what to do and how to do it.
May your will be done today, on earth as it is in heaven, and let it
begin with me.
Give us, your people, the conviction to do more than just pray
your will be done–is though it were happening outside of us, and
carried out by other people. Let this be our most heartfelt desire
and deepest personal commitment.
May your will be done today, on earth as it is in heaven, and let it
begin with me.
Amen.
