Piloting Faith - A Daily Meditation

A Word for the Day...
There is a moment in the birthing process that feels like death. The pain is mind-numbing. The birthing room feels chaotic. Hope and fear fill you in equal measure. Doctors call this moment the "transition." Our nation is living through such a moment. We are giving birth to a new culture honoring diversity, equality and respect. Or we are devolving into barbarians. I can't totally tell...but I like the first idea better. :)

Prayer for the Day
I stand before you filled with hope. I'm hopeful even when this world seems very dark, because you said that you will could be done right here, on earth as it is in heaven.
Teach me to discern your will by the counsel of the Holy Spirit. Awaken me to your guiding light.
Teach me to understand that Jesus himself suffered not so that you would love us but so that we would know that we are loved.
Teach me to love kindness as much as I love to be fairly treated. Turned me into a champion of mercy when I'd rather make a show of strength. I want to humbly follow the higher, better way of Jesus.
Amen.
