Piloting Faith: On being integrated...

A Word for the Day...
"The stress of all of this is going to kill me if the virus doesn't." My colleague was running her hands through her hair, talking to me over Zoom from her living room with her 3-year-old son crawling over her lap and waving to me on the screen. I waved back in absolute delight; he was a charmer.
I have loved having calls with people this week where we get to see into one another's lives. We get to see each other's messy home offices. We get to meet the other family members walking around in the background. We get to see the dogs when their noses pop up into the video shot or the cat who jumps onto the keyboard seeking attention.
This week, we get to be displaced, creative, messy, distracted, kind, generous, stressed out FULL human beings with each other. We get to be integrated. We are finding a new rhythm in daily life that honors our families, creatures and careers in a way that feels SO MUCH BETTER to me than how we were working even three weeks ago.
Today, I went for a walk (with appropriate social distancing) at lunch. I had a free hour this morning, so I read a book as I drank my coffee. I was available to my family because I could (mostly) structure my workday around what worked for us all.
I understand that life feels chaotic and working with a three-year-old is nearly impossible. It's also beautiful. In the midst of this disruption, I encourage you to pay attention to the ways you are becoming more balanced and integrated within yourself.
I would not have wished this pandemic on us. But I do believe that God can create something extraordinary out of this experience. Perhaps its a more sustainable life in a more sustainable world.
We are in this together.

Prayer for the Week
Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.
I arise today.
